Boys Golf High School
Shrine Knight Boys Golf
The Shrine Catholic HS boys’ golf team is led by head coach Bruce Trout. Coach Trout played Division I collegiate golf at Central Michigan University from 1981-84 while earning his degree in Business Administration.
The 2017 Shrine golf team will look to advance to the Division 4 State Finals after narrow misses in 2015 & 2016. The 2017 team will return all of its tournament players from 2016, expecting to come back even stronger after a summer of individual tournaments.
The golf team is very proud to play our home matches at Red Run Golf Club, site of the 2016 Western Junior, as well as past host for prestigious tournaments such as the 1958 Western Open and 1995 Michigan Amateur. In addition to home matches at Red Run, the team also practices and plays tournaments at sites such as The Wyndgate, Fieldstone GC, Oakland University, and Treetops. The team consists of 8 players, with either 5 or 6 players competing in each 9 hole dual matches within the Catholic League, or 18 holes in MHSAA tournaments, and select Invitational tournaments.
Official practices begin in mid March at a local indoor golf studio, with off some off season practices taking place throughout the year in compliance with MHSAA rules. Matches will begin in early April and the season will end in early June. Competitions and practices usually entail 5-6 days of the week during the season. If you have any questions about the 2017 team, please contact Coach Trout at (248) 595-5679 or firstname.lastname@example.org
All student-athletes at Shrine must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better, play with the highest level of sportsmanship and remember they are representing Shrine on and off the course.
