Shrine Catholic High School Presents Musical “Anything Goes”
(ROYAL OAK, MI) April 15, 2016 — All aboard! Shrine Catholic High School’s Performing Arts Department proudly sets sail on a “de-lovely” production of the musical Anything Goes.
This show is an amusing story wrapped around the wonderful music of Cole Porter — “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and more! The age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue intrigue every audience, and no musical puts it better on stage!
Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney (Lucy Queen ’16) is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker (Brad Chaklos ’16) has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt (Molly Wagner ’17), but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Brendan Battle ’16). Joining them on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin (Andrew Scott ’16) and his sidekick-in-crime Bonnie (Rebecca Kruliski ’17). With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing angels, and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
“Our production is the result of countless hours from dedicated students, parents, teachers, administrators and alumni,” said Director Nancy Sawyer who is celebrating her 15th production this year. “The true goal of any work of art should be to bring pleasure to those who view it. We hope this show will help you forget your cares and get your feet tapping,” she adds.
Show dates are Friday, April 22 at 7:30pm; Saturday, April 23 at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 24 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 and available at the door at Shrine Catholic High School Sanders Performing Arts Auditorium located at 3500 W. 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak, MI.
