Shrine Catholic Schools announced today the appointment of Kathleen Fotiu as principal of Shrine Catholic Grade School beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. Fotiu joins Shrine from St. Raphael Catholic School in Garden City, and replaces Sharon Dixon, who is retiring after 17 years of service.

“We conducted a comprehensive search and interview process and were led to Mrs. Fotiu,” said Fr. Robert Fisher, rector of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica and president of Shrine Catholic Schools. “She is eager to join the Shrine family, and upon wrapping up her responsibilities at St. Raphael’s, will be working with Mrs. Dixon to assure a smooth transition. We’re pleased to welcome her into the Shrine community.”

Fotiu’s background includes an Associate’s Degree in Science from Schoolcraft College; a Bachelor’s of Science majoring in Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, with a minor in Early Childhood Education from Madonna University; and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Madonna University.

“She brings with her a passion for Catholic education with a particular focus on science, technology and math. We believe Mrs. Fotiu will help further enrich the minds and souls of our school community,” Fisher said.

Shrine Catholic Grade School is located at 1621 Linwood Avenue, Royal Oak, MI 48067.
