Shrine Catholic Schools challenge our students to achieve excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, service to others and leadership, all while giving glory to God the Father and exemplifying the mission of Jesus Christ through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
At Shrine Catholic Grade School, we exemplify Christ through praying, learning, and growing together.
A family’s first encounter with Shrine Schools can be as part of our parent/tot class. We invite two year olds and their caregivers to join us in classes taught by our preschool director. These classes will be filled with delight and discovery. Your initial experience of Shrine School’s philosophy will begin here.
Our Early Childhood Center opened in the Fall of 2017. It is fully licensed by the State of Michigan. Our new state-of-the art facility allows us to offering programing for Parent/Tot, Preschool 3, Preschool 4, and Junior Kindergarten. We are able to accommodate children arriving as early as 7:00 a.m. and those that need to stay in our care until 6:00 p.m.
We offer typical preschool programming that begins at 8:00 a.m. and can end at 11:05 or 3:10, depending on the need. We also offer five day a week, three-day a week, and two-day a week options. Our class ratios are 1:9, which is aligned with the State of Michigan.
Our teachers are all certified educators and strive to educate the whole child using the Mother Goose Time curriculum. This theme-based program allows the teachers to meet each child’s needs. We also offer some enrichment programming that expands our music, science, Spanish and art curriculum.
Latchkey will be available for an additional fee for children within the Early Childhood Facility from 7:00 AM-8:00 AM and from 3:10-6:00 PM.
Must be 2 Years of Age
Tuesday/Thursday – 8:30-10:00
We believe for a child to meet their greatest potential, they need to feel important, accepted, and welcomed. In our Early Childhood Center, each child’s self esteem and emerging identity as God’s own child is affirmed. We believe that because each child grows at their independent pace, it is our job to teach them at their individual level of readiness. We build on the child’s own knowledge and questions through brainstorming, inquiring, classifying, and cooperating. All of this occurs through multi-sensory experiences while providing an atmosphere of playful learning and discovery at the same time!
The teachers and staff at Shrine Early Childhood Center understand that parental involvement is key to a child’s success in school. Frequent parent communication builds community and gives each child the greatest potential for success. As part of our communication, we are excited for our “daily wrap ups” at the end of each school day. This is a time for your child’s teacher to share with you all the activities your child participated in on any given day. The teachers will also share research-supported information backing up the daily curriculum.
For our evaluation tools, we use daily documentations, portfolios, and assessments. Parents will meet formally twice a year for conferences, yet an open communication will be ongoing throughout the year. We believe by providing students with these tools, they will be able to walk confidently from the preschool hallway into the grade school when their preschool experience has ended.

Shrine Catholic Schools have been blessed for many years with incredible support from our community. Our faculty and staff have always worked tirelessly to provide the highest quality Catholic education for all our students. What we have known for a long time – that our schools are a wonderful place for students to learn and grow – is increasingly becoming well known in our wider community. Even in the midst of the incredible challenges that we face during this time in history, Shrine Catholic Schools are growing. Our faith, our family and our future are very strong.
Recently a feasibility study was conducted and it was determined that it will be in the best interest of Shrine Schools to move our 6th graders to the Academy. This will help the Grade School to accommodate more students, but more importantly, it will allow our Academy to develop into a true middle school model. We are delighted to be able to offer this Middle School experience for our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This move for the 6th graders to the High School & Academy campus will take place in fall 2021.
