The Class of 2023 is rounding the corner on their college admissions/acceptance/decision process. The College Counseling Office proudly reports that our seniors have been accepted to over 100 different colleges and universities across the country. The final list of colleges will be released later in May along with additional stats on the class. Nominations are due April 1, 2023 The Shrine High School Hall of Fame was established in 2009 by Coach John Goddard ’63. This is an extension of the athletic department to assist the school in recognizing the efforts and achievements of past teams, student athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors to SHS while supporting student athletes through the Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund.
Shrine Catholic High School is proud to announce that two members of the Class of 2023 were recognized as National Merit Semifinalists. Congratulations to Andrew Bala and Annalisa Bauer! More than 16,000 Semifinalists were announced today in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Every October, approximately 1.6 million juniors across the country take the PSAT. Students who score in the top one percent achieve the distinction of National Merit Semifinalist. Congratulations to Andrew and Annalisa on this extraordinary accomplishment!
The varsity football game against Bishop Foley has been selected as the Detroit Lions Game of the Week. The game is home(Shrine High School) Friday, September 9th at 7 pm. Our game won the online vote by capturing 46% of the 19,557 votes.
Shrine Catholic High School names Dr. Julie Kaminski as the eighth principal in the school’s 81-year history. She takes over for Mr. James Mio ’96 who will focus his service at Shrine as principal of the Academy.
The Shrine Lacrosse Team defeated Divine Child 12-9 to capture the Cardinal Division Catholic League Championship. This is back to back championships for the lacrosse program.
The Archdiocese of Detroit has appointed Monsignor Patrick Halfpenny as Temporary Administrator of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica effective today, Friday, February 25, 2022. Monsignor Halfpenny will continue his responsibilities serving as Director for Priestly Mission in the Office for Clergy and Consecrated Life.
The Varsity Football Team has been selected as one of sixty-two teams to be a finalist for the NFF National High School Academic Excellence Award. This award recognizes the football team for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the field.
On Thursday, November 11, 2021 the Volleyball Team defeated Sandusky 3-0 to win the Regional Championship. This is Back to Back Regional Championships for the Volleyball Program.
On Friday, October 22, 2021 at Willow Metropark the Girls Cross Country won the CHSL Cardinal Division Championship for the second time in three seasons.
