Dear Shrine families,
We write to you again with sadness that we will not be able to return to our beloved school buildings during this 2019-20 school year. Per the Governor’s announcement and our Superintendent’s letter Shrine Catholic Schools will finish their academic school year from home utilizing the Distance Learning that we have begun.
The teachers were aware that this might become a possibility and are ready to continue the strong academics that you expect from Shrine. At the Grade School, you may see some of our teachers starting to try out a few new technology pieces, like Zoom calls even with our littlest Knights in PreK. Seesaw and Google Classroom will continue to also be used at the Grade School with a weekly calendar sent out on Sunday between noon and 6:00 p.m. At the Academy and High School, teachers will continue with their classes and assignments using Google Classroom, Plus Portals, and Zoom. We are welcoming your constructive feedback during these less than ideal times, so please share the positives and challenges your family is facing with our Distance Learning program. One of the words that is often used to describe Shrine is COMMUNITY. We know that many of you are mourning the loss of our sports programs, musical, concerts, and trips together as a community. We cannot guarantee that any of these events will still take place, but the one thing we do guarantee is that the Shrine Community will recognize the accomplishments of the Class of 2020. While we do not know at this time what these events will look like, as we do not know when it will be safe to gather once again, we do know that our Senior Class has worked hard and deserve to be celebrated and honored for their time at Shrine.
