Nominations are due April 1, 2023 The Shrine High School Hall of Fame was established in 2009 by Coach John Goddard ’63. This is an extension of the athletic department to assist the school in recognizing the efforts and achievements of past teams, student athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors to SHS while supporting student athletes through the Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund.
The varsity football game against Bishop Foley has been selected as the Detroit Lions Game of the Week. The game is home(Shrine High School) Friday, September 9th at 7 pm. Our game won the online vote by capturing 46% of the 19,557 votes.
Shrine Catholic High School names Dr. Julie Kaminski as the eighth principal in the school’s 81-year history. She takes over for Mr. James Mio ’96 who will focus his service at Shrine as principal of the Academy.
The Archdiocese of Detroit has appointed Monsignor Patrick Halfpenny as Temporary Administrator of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica effective today, Friday, February 25, 2022. Monsignor Halfpenny will continue his responsibilities serving as Director for Priestly Mission in the Office for Clergy and Consecrated Life.
As the next school year quickly approaches, new leadership is set to take the helm of Shrine Catholic Grade School. Mr. Scott Wisniewski was selected as the next Principal along with Ms. Erika Zwolinski as the Assistant Principal. Both are set to prepare for an altered student population which includes Pre-K to 5th grade beginning with the 2021-2022 school year due to the 6th grade move to the Academy campus.
Shrine Catholic Schools has begun construction on an ambitious $2.1 million dollar project which will provide a state-of-the-art athletic field located on the high school and academy campus. Targeted for completion by Fall 2021, the new field not only will bring new opportunities for current student athletes but attract new students to the thriving schools.
Just a little under a month until the Shrine Catholic High School Performing Arts Department production of Children of Eden. As with most live events, things will look a little different this year. Live performance seating will be reserved for our cast members and their families. However, we will offer an online stream of our performance to the general public. Show dates are Friday and Saturday, March 26th and 27th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 28th at 3 pm from the Sanders Auditorium on the Shrine Catholic High School & Academy campus. With an eye on continued academic excellence and a clear vision for the future, Shrine Catholic Schools names Joanne Swan Jones as its’ first Head of Schools. Shrine is a co-ed educational community that begins with 3-year-old preschool and continues through high-school.
Shrine’s new turf athletic field is happening! We’re planning to put “first shovel in the ground” this April in order for the new Athletic Field to be used in the fall! Above you see the Shrine Knights field where football, soccer and lacrosse are planned for Fall 2021!
