Personal Statement
My ultimate objective for my students – whether it is in English or Speech – is for each of them to have a voice in what goes on in the world around us. I want them to have the knowledge and the confidence to speak out about issues that matter to them. I want them to be people who can think critically, reason analytically, and speak out in their communities to spark positive change. I want their voices to be heard. This speaks to why I became a teacher and to what I believe about education. Ultimately, learning is not simply about acquiring new knowledge. Learning should be a transformative, empowering, and personal experience for each individual, and I strive daily to make that happen for all of my students. My children all attend Shrine schools, and I know that the quality of education and the commitment to the Catholic faith found here are unparalleled anywhere else. I believe in the mission of the schools. I believe in the administration, the faculty, and the staff at Shrine. I believe in every one of our students, and I believe I am where I am called to be as a Catholic and as an educator.
