Personal Statement This year I am teaching Algebra I, Precalculus, Honors Precalculus, and Calculus. I like that my schedule allows me to work with students from each grade (9-12) who possess varied mathematics abilities. I enjoy making sense of math for all of them, and I always try to focus on the ‘why’ more than the ‘how’. I use technology in my classroom to help make those connections, and then I continue to reinforce them throughout the school year. I love teaching at Shrine Catholic High School for many reasons. One of the main differences I notice, compared to other schools, is that the teachers here always go the extra mile to help students. The students are not just numbers, but young people that we really get to know well. It is common to see teachers working with students before, after school, and during prep time. This extra attention given to students outside of class is a key reason why Shrine students are so successful!
